MONDAY!  Good morning girls and boys!  Here's a special shout out from Gunagzhou in the far southeast of China.  After a LOOOOONG night on the train in four person sleeper  compartment  with a mother and daughter (neither of which would put out!), we arrived yesterday around 6am in a DRIVING MONSOON!  Look, we like wet, we like slippery... we even like wet and slippery (wink wink), but this is ridiculous!  We'll just use the phrase, "blinding rain,"  and let it go at that.

So here's the deal.  The only reason we're here is because this was the only train we could get the commie bastards to give us tickets on coming out of Jingdezhen - and now we know why!  Anyway, before we left the station to search in the driving rain for a hostel/hotel/back alley shanty, we stood in line (pushing and shoving because that's how it works here) for a couple of hours to get tickets out of this car wash to where we originally wanted to go (1,000 miles northwest of here!).  Okay, wait for it, wait for it.........   GOT 'EM!  Folks, we are sooooooo outta here today at 5pm on another overnight train - and we're hoping for another mother-daughter deal...or maybe a sister-sister combo with REALLY open minds! 

On a more mundane topic, we did eventually get a gypsy cab to drive us around the low rent district, and we did find a cheap hostel right by the river.  We spent most of yesterday drying everything in our bags and today we're gonna brave more rain to look at some historic pagoda, or tomb, or dead Commie so we can say we have "culture!"  Folks, keep your dial tuned right here because the next stop is Guilin, China.....  tomorrow!
