IS THE OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO JINDEZHEN THE SAME AS THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN TO GEORGIA?

WEDNESDAY!  HUMP DAY (even here everybody h-mps!).  “Hello,” and let us be the first people today to say that to you from Jingdezhen, China.  We left Nanjing last night about 10pm (on that “Midnight Train to Georgia”) on the overnight train, and with sunrise we’re 1,000 miles south in the land of rice paddies and ox carts.  Folks, the big cities are behind us – along with the strip clubs, disco balls and happy ending massage parlors – DAMN!

For those of you that actually care, Jingdezhen is the center for Chinese pottery and it’s where porcelain was invented a thousand or ten thousand or a long f’ing time ago.  Okay, enough with the B.S. history lesson, here’s the deal.  We couldn't find a hostel anywhere in this one yak town, so for $15 bucks we’re staying at the “Businessman’s Hotel” (only in Chinese).  It’s just like a Holiday Inn only different – WAY DIFFERENT!  Every room has two twin beds (so you can save money by staying with your business associate), a big selling point (at least in the front desk clerk’s mind) is that the room windows open, and there’s free wireless internet that doesn’t work at all – even for the staff! (we’re ripping off this signal from out front of a Bank of China branch).

Folks, you’d think a city of over 1 million population would be close to modern, but in China (where over 60 cities have bigger populations that) this is just a small country town.  We’ll be here for awhile – at least until we find the local massage parlor – and that could be tonight or, if the happy endings are REALLY happy, days from now….

It says, "Welcome 2011 Riding4Beer China Tour!"      Before leaving Nanjing, Kevin stopped for a tune-up!

Stacy isn't used to being a "bottom!"                                      HEY!   This looks just like China!

Jingdezhen - our hotel is tall building in middle!                Downtown - our hotel is white building on right!
