THE RAIN IN SPAIN FALLS MAINLY ON THE PLAIN!

NOW WAIT JUST A MINUTE!  What day is it?  Oh yeah, it’s SUNDAY, and it seems like just yesterday it was only Saturday.  Well, you knew it had to happen and so did we.  After five days in Barcelona our pasts (and “currents”) caught up with us (along with the local Policia, the Spanish Federales and U.S. State Department).  It seems that our hotel finally got around to filing the information they copied off of our passports when we checked in (yes, you have to have a passport to stay at a hotel in Spain) and the rest is history.

Okay, so in the past two months of continuous travel on the 2008 Riding4Beer World Tour (sponsored by the "King of Beers," BUDWEISER!) we have NEVER gotten out of bed before 10am – and that was only once in Russia because we heard the cops coming down the hall.  Anyway, today we had to get up at 6:30 f’ing A.M. to catch an 8 o’clock train south and west (ALWAYS WEST!).  By early afternoon we were wandering the deserted streets (it is Sunday and they are “good” Catholics) of Cordoba, Spain in 100+ degree heat looking for the “Hotel Riviera” (NOT KIDDING!).  As it turns out it’s not really a hotel (more like a converted apartment) and the Riviera is nowhere in sight (it’s like 1,000 miles east!).  So much for “truth in advertising” (they’ll hear from Budweiser’s lawyers about this!) but it does have clean sheets (sorta), wireless internet (at the cantina next door) and allot of Spanish “charm.”

So here’s the deal.  We didn’t choose Cordoba, it chose us.  Our ultimate destination is the southern most tip of Spain (Algeciras) where we can cross the Straits of Gibraltar into Morocco and North Africa.  Cordoba just seemed about halfway, and besides, in 1987 we knew a pimp named “Wesley” and he drove a gold Chrysler Cordoba.  It seemed like “harmonic convergence” to us so we jumped off the train, saw an ad for the Hotel Riviera in the station and you already know the rest of the story.  But the REALLY good news is that the cantina next door where this post is being written from serves ice cold Budweiser, Fernando the bartender (NOT KIDDING) speaks passable English and his twin sisters “love” Americanos…

4 PICS AND NO VIDEO - LOOK WE JUST GOT HERE!  LET US FIGURE STUFF OUT!  GEEEZ!

Stacy in Barcelona before we were "found out!"                            No train station is fun at 8 o'clock in the morning!

It's a lie about the rain falling on the plain, but...                                ...we think we can stay in Cordoba for awhile!

What next?  We have seen it all with you kooks!  I mean crazies!  Out drinking some of that Budweiser, the King of Beers.  We are going to be doing the same thing out in the boat today at Stretches.  You two have a fantastic weekend and have a Bud with one of those Spanish senioritas.  Remember, we cannot help but love you two.
