It's almost that time of year in Palm Springs when the "Snow Birds" return. These are the 200,000+ people from stupid cold places like Fon-Du-Lac, Wisconsin that have condos here so they can invade our peaceful town in the winter months and not freeze their ...... off back home. WARNING! WE CHEAT DRUNKS & TOURISTS! We only have a few more weeks and then it will be open season on tourists, but in the meantime we figured we should go out and get some practice.
We started out by hitting one of our favorite outdoor drinking establishments on Palm Canyon Drive - PALM CANYON DRIVE , BABY! (We just love saying that!). Anyway, it's sort of a "locals" hangout, but since it's on PALM CANYON DRIVE it gets a fair share of tourists. First up tonight was a couple from (not kidding here) Intercourse, Pennsylvania. Check it out - we saw their drivers licenses! Anyway, it started all going downhill when Kevin's first question was, " ah...so whaddya do for fun in Intercourse?" Before they could answer, he followed it with, "I bet you play a lot of indoor sports!" They didn't think his line of questoning was very funny and actually left the bar without paying. No prob, when we heard that we called the cops on them since we saw where they went. WELCOME TO PALM SPRINGS! The last thing we saw was both of them being thrown in the back of a patrol car while pointing in our general direction down PALM CANYON DRIVE.
Now if all this sounds like we not the hospitable types, that's just not true. Why next week for example, Guy & Cary, our friends from Appleton, Wisconsin, will be here visting. We'll treat them just fine since we know we can scam Guy into paying for most of the meals and all of the beer while they're here. In return, we're letting them stay on the sleeper sofa in our double-wide and even use our 1992 Ford Taurus to get around town. Fair trade, right? Seriously, we love tourists - at least if we're not caught at it! Anyway, tomorrow is Sunday NFL football and there's gonna be a major kickoff party here at the trailer park so make sure you tune in...
