"THE MAN FROM THE MAGAZINE, HE SAID WE WERE ON OUR WAY..." - LOST IN LODI AGAIN!
Super 8's are SUPER! We stayed in one in Sacramento last night and while their free wireless didn't work, they knew the access code for the motel next door (La Quinta Inn) and gave it to us. We logged on, got our post made and even had a free breakfast this morning (Raisin Bran & Donuts) all for just $49.95 (AARP Rate! - Hey we're proud!). But then there was apparently some issue that clouded this whole wonderful experience. It seems that the La Quinta Inn knows about people logging on from the Super 8 and they didn't appreciate Kevin viewing all the internet porn sites and clogging up their wireless server with all sorts of online ads for Viagra. Oh well, they shouldn't be beaming that signal all the way out into their parking lot then, should they?!
While we were in Sacramento we stopped by to visit Kevin's Dad. The reception was a bit less than what we expected. While he invited Stacy in, and even made lunch for her, Kevin was "persona non-grata." It seems it has something to do with Kevin using all of his Dad's retirement funds a few years ago to invest in an Amway franchise or something. Let's just say that his Dad has a great memory, doesn't enjoy eating cat food for dinner and really knows how to hold a grudge. Anyway, the visit was cordial for Stacy and Kevin's brother even stopped by to say "hi" (to Stacy) and to beat the living daylights out of Kevin. In the end though everyone made up and they even waved goodbye with one finger as we drove off in search of a place to sleep for the night.
We ended up in Lodi, California (20 minutes south of Sacramento) at Kevin's Aunt's house. While she'll admit that Kevin has been a big disappointment in life, at least she let us in and offered us a place to sleep for the night. She heated up a frozen pizza for us (home cooking), let us park our Harley in her living room (alongside hers) and even let us have some of her husband Tony's prescription pain medications. Now that's what families are for - hospitality and love even through the bitter disappointment of her nephew's wasted life. With things working out so well here, we may just stay another day, but we'll see what's for breakfast!

Kevin's Dad wouldn't even let him in his house! He did make lunch for Stacy - but she ate fast.

Aunt Jackie offered us a GREAT place to sleep! Stacy with cousins Lisa & John - June was a good month for Cold Duck!

HAHA Grandpa you lost your Senior discount card. But I guess they might need discounts on their breakfast for the ride back home. Wait my Dad is over the hill now, he should apply for one of those cards too!!!
