BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA - DON'T ASK WHY - WE DON'T KNOW!

An amazing start to another amazing day in Paradise.  This was the first time on the trip we've stayed two nights at the same motel (for a variety of reasons).  Because of weather we'd planned to stay even another day in the glorious Minneapolis- St Paul area, but Kevin blew that opportunity by messing with the maid's cart in the hallway.  It seems that he got it in his beer sodden mind that other guests were getting softer toilet tissue than us, so he stole rolls and rolls and rolls of it from the cart in the hall.   He was caught after about the 50th roll and when management saw the piles of opened rolls in our room they asked us to leave.  The timing could have been better, but it is what it is.

So in the pouring rain we set out west from Minneapolis.  The Dopler Radar showed that it should only have lasted for about 15 miles, but two hours and 100 miles later we were still getting drenched.   Cold and cloudy may be how we like our beer, but that's not how we like to ride.  At times the temperature hit as low as 58 degrees and when your wet and zipping along at 70 MPH it's %(*^)*!^#$ COLD!  Anyway, we finally called it quits just across the border in Brookings, South Dakota.

We figured one cheap motel was as good as another and one eastern South Dakota town was as good as another so we landed here.  We didn't realize that Brookings has no gas stations, no places to eat, no laundries to dry our clothes and most importantly - NO PLACE TO DRINK BEER!   We don't consider this a mistake, but it definitely was a mis-calculation.   We had to ride into the next town and buy a couple of six packs to bring back to the motel.  That all went well and while we were shopping at the gas station we also got two hot dogs for 99 cents (for Kevin) and a package of Velveeta (for Stacy - she's a vegitarian).   We're only here for the night and with clear weather we'll be outta here first thing in the morning.

Kevin caught in the act by the security cameras.                  We always go faster than 10MPH past the shanties!

Fortunately Kevin wears a supporter!                                                                 7,500 Miles and cruisin'!
