WHAT CAN WE SAY? - NEW ORLEANS!

With the Harley safely parked in the courtyard of our house in the French Quarter we set about taking care of some chores.  We needed to get our camera replaced ( it was dropped in a drunken stupor somewhere), we needed to get some more fuel additive (all gasolines are not alike) and we needed some new underwear from Walmart (we pride ourselves on never going over a week without changing underwear).  Being the neighborly types we borrowed Amy's car from upstairs and set about gathering the needed items.  We won a drag race in the Walmart parking lot against some housewife (with curlers in her hair - not kidding!) and she paid us off with coupons for free rootbeer floats at the Sonic Drive-In.  To be fair though, we were running in Amy's BMW station wagon and the housewife had a ten year old Dodge PowerWagon pickup truck that she had to slow down on curves so her kids wouldn't fall out of the back.  We did leave some rubber in the parking lot, but at least now Amy's tires are bald like everyone else.

Back in the French Quarter we had errands to run as well.  We stopped by our friend John's awesome clothing store on Decatur Street called "Road Kill" and met Vanessa, a girl that is doing the same trip we're doing except from east to west, in a car not on a motorcycle and with several pair of fresh underwear (or so she said).   Now that we think about it - she's not really doing anything like us - but she was nice, she did listen to our lies and we did get her to buy us lunch.  Maybe we'll run into her in a month or so when our paths cross again at the top of the country in Wisconsin, Michigan or some other tropical state - who knows!

When dinner rolled around there was only one thought and only one place to go - ACME OYSTER HOUSE!  The food is great, the beer is cold and you can eat at the bar, but more importantly, they know us and still let us come back!  It probably has to do with the photos we have from a year or so ago.  Lets just say that our discretion here is keeping that employee's marriage together and leave it at that.  Afterwards we staggered over to one of our favorite hangouts - HUGE ASS BEERS at the Steak Pit - and listened to our friends Dick & Randy strum the same "C" chord (they claim they can play an "E" chord too) on their guitars and keep up relatively well with the Karaoke machine (seriously - they are AWESOME!).  In hindsight it was a VERY successful day and tomorrow is also filled with promise!
