IT WASN'T PRETTY - BUT IT CERTAINLY WAS FUN!

With a good night's sleep, a hot shower and a shave (Kevin shaved too), we were ready to hit the road under clear blue skies.  We had to make up for yesterday's lost mileage and today we covered four states - Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.  We spent most of our time riding across Arkansas trying to find anyone that hadn't been cheated, lied to, or stolen from by Hillary.  No takers on that bet, eh?  (RELAX!  It's a joke - we'll make fun of Obama-Rama when we get to Illinois).  Anyway, we crossed the mighty Mississippi and find ourselves just south of Memphis in Oxford, Mississippi - home to Ole Miss and our friends Jason & Connie.

They were both born and raised in Mississippi so they aren't that good at "book"  learnin' and they really can't read at all.   They've been following our trip on the web, but basically they just look at the pictures - which is why they don't know about all the trouble we got into in San Antonio and agreed to let us stay at their house.  Get this - they actually said they think we are "good"people" - but that was early in the evening.    Boy were they in for a surprise!

We went out to dinner with them tonight and everything was going smoothly.  We even conned them into buying by pretending Kevin forgot his wallet back at the house.  But that's also when the trouble started.  It seems that there was some sort of "misunderstanding" between Kevin and a young girl at the bar.  The quick version of the story is that drinks were purportedly thrown at one another, somehow the police were called and when all the shouting was over Kevin was charged with something called "pimping and pandering,"  whatever that is.   The good news is that he used a fake name when they arrested him, so they don't know about his issues in San Antonio last week.  He was released on his own recognizence, which is also good because tomorrow we are all off to see...

As you two make your way from jail to jail across this great land I am reminded of other great explorers who traveled before you looking for fame and fortune - Lewis and Clark, Bonnie and Clyde, Bill and Ted, Wayne and Garth, Hansel and Gretal, Thelma and Louise. We can now safely say that the names Kevin and Stacy will join the list of outrageous duos who had nothing better to do than wander around as social outcasts, leaving a trail of broken hearts and empty beer bottles. Your place in history will be secured before this ride is over as children generations from now will study the written history you have left and wonder "Will that be me?".

It is interesting that you mention Bonnie and Clyde in the list. As this Cochrane family's self-appointed historian and genealogist I have long pursued the family tale that Kevin is related to Bonnie. Seems she and Clyde ventured into Joplin, Mo. to visit relatives and hide for awhile. Our relatives were Joplin residents at the time. That's it, so far, but I will keep digging. I mentioned it to Kevin, suggesting he side-trip to Joplin to see what he could find; but, he was wary. Said he didn't want to publicize any possible link and perhaps then tarnish the name of Bonnie.

See Kevin. I told you that there was not much room in the back seat of a police car. That's why they have to take the beer and put it in the trunk for you. LOL
