"GALVESTON, OH GALVESTON" - We just love Glen Cambell songs!

As much as we will miss San Antonio, we hit the road and headed south today.  With the restraining order now in place that prohibits us from coming within 500 feet of Ramon & Gloria, staying at their house just became too difficult.  But on our way out of town we did put a deposit down on a great double-wide space in a really nice trailer park - only we're not sure if they will hold it when our check bounces.

The skies were clear and the Weather Channel predicted, "scattered showers - locally heavy at times,"  So we headed for Galveston. Guess what - we picked every place between San Antonio and Galveston where it was "locally heavy."  We did stop at the K. Spoetzl Brewery - where they brew the world famous Shiner Bock Beer.  It was the only part of the entire trip today when it wasn't raining so we stopped - we figured why ride if it's not raining?  The good news is that we were able to break out our $200 gortex rainsuits for the first time.  I'm not sure what they are supposed to do, but they are absolutely GREAT at catching all the rain and funneling it down your shirt and your pants.

Galveston is right on the Gulf and it's where all the offshore oil rigs pump that crude.  Kevin was disappointed when he tried to sign on with an oil drilling platform crew and they said they only staffed those with men.   His clever reply of, "oh yeah!" did not impress anyone (and actually got us kicked out of Hooters!).  We're installed for the night at the Ramada Inn right on Seawall Boulevard but that's just a bed.  We choose this location because it's right next door to a Hooter's and we just love those curley fries - even though Kevin got us kicked out.  Tomorrow we have to head either north or east or both, so where will we stop...

Stacy, when she heard about the a restraining order               Stacy at the Brewery - before they ask us to leave!

The Rig Crew turning Kevin down COLD!                                                  Our Hooters server - AWESOME AMBER!

Mmm, well I think even Glen Campbell would have to say..I hope you enjoy those "Southern Nights" and that no "Rhinestone Cowboy" steals Stacy away while you're out on an oil rig or working as a "Wichita Lineman." "Try a Little Kindness" when you stay with your friends, so you don't have to be "Homeward Bound" ahead of schedule. I could go on, but why bother?

Tori said, "good God dad I could hear them from my room and also you and mom in your room, it was like in stereo."  And Dulce, well her tail doesn't wag like it used to. Happy trails
